‘Here I lie in the cold embrace of the grass with the scent of the bog myrtle and the meadow-sweet in my nostrils. I have found my mate.’

CRYPTIC presents Virginia Woolf’s glorious ode to a lover, with an original soundtrack by Craig Armstrong and AGF, directed by Cathie Boyd, adapted by Darryl Pinckney and performed by Judith Williams.

Orlando opens with the hero as a young man in Elizabethan England, and follows his transformations of fortune, love and even gender in this multi-faceted, century-spanning quest for ‘life and a lover’. A poetic and sensuous journey self-discovery, ‘the longest and most charming love letter in literature’ transformed to a stunning visual spectacle.
